The Grandaddy of them all… the Rose Bowl of HPC… yes, it’s the Student Cluster Competition at the 2014 Supercomputing Conference. This biggest-ever event features twelve teams from five continents – returning champions, seasoned veterans, and rookies alike.
Dan Olds of Gabriel Consulting Group breaks down the schools and the apps, and talks with Radio Free HPC teammates Rich Brueckner of insideHPC and Henry Newman of Instrumental, Inc. about why this is a big deal. Yes, they devolve into arguments and personal insults as usual, but (mercifully) not till the end of the podcast.
For background on how these competitions work, check our “About” page. (Oh, fine, here’s the link.) To find out how this all got started, see our “History” section. (All right, here’s that link too.)
And, of course, give the podcast a listen here.
