My last article about the ISC18 Student Cluster Competition, titled “World Cup is Lame Compared to This Competition”, may have implied that I believe Student Cluster Competitions are better than World Cup soccer in some ways. Let me correct the record. I want to state that Student Cluster Competitions are categorically better than World Cup soccer (or any soccer) in every way.
Judging by the amount of email I’ve received (zero) about my dissing of the World Cup , I would guess that many of you, if not most of you, agree with me. However, I’m nothing if not fair, and the fair thing to do is to lay out the evidence and let you make your own decision as to whether competitive student clustering is superior to soccer.
I’ve dispassionately evaluated the data and objectively compared the pros and cons of each competition. Here’s what I’ve come up with….
Looking at the table
, the results seem very clear. On 12 key criteria, student cluster competitions top World Cup (and soccer in general) on 10 of them. I was both shocked and stunned to see student cluster competitions deliver that kind of beat down to soccer. Ouch.
The next time you hear from me, I’ll be on the ground in Frankfurt. We’re going to cover the ISC18 Student Cluster Competition like a fat man going through a dessert buffet. Stay tuned
