1. Huazhong University of Science & Technology, China: 8.455 TFlop/s
2. EPCC (The University of Edinburgh), UK: 8.321 TFlop/s
3. Tsinghua University, China: 8.132 TFlop/s
All three scores are new student cluster world records. The top LINPACK one year ago at ISC’12 was 2.561 TFlop/s.

The contest for the overall championship was very tight this year. Only three of the eight teams – South Africa, Tsinghua, and Huazhong – turned in a result for each of the three disclosed scientific apps (WRF, GROMACS, and MILC) and the two surprise apps (AMG and CP2K).
