The second entry from China, the Huazhong University of Science & Technology, earned their ticket to the ISC competition by finishing second in the Asia Student Supercomputer Challenge last April. This is their first international competition, so not a lot is known about the team.
But by the end of this video… well, you’ll know only a little bit more. Sure, there was a language barrier. But there was more here than simply not speaking a common language. It seemed to me that they just didn’t want to say much about what they were doing and how they were doing it. So Team Huazong remains a mystery wrapped in an enigma. Maybe they prefer to let their cluster do the talking?
(Usually I can engage a team in conversation and ferret out some details, but these kids weren’t giving up anything. Of course, it could be that they regarded me as an annoying pest. But everyone sees me as an annoying pest and yet they still talk to me, if only to get me to go away.)
