China’s National University of Defense Technology (NUDT, profile here) is staying true to its heritage by being the only team to use a hybrid CPU/GPU system at the ISC 2012 Student Cluster Competition in Hamburg. NUDT, like Team Tsinghua, had to fight its way through five other Chinese university competitors to secure its spot in Hamburg.
This is NUDT’s second international student cluster competition; they finished a very close second at SC11 in Seattle last year. Is this the year they break through and win it all? Will their GPUs power them into the winners’ circle? (There isn’t a real winners’ circle, but there should be.) We get their final thoughts in this short video.
